چکیده

In an 1830 publication J. Liebig and F. Wöhler [1] first reported on the preparation of isocyanic acid, which later was improved by A. Baeyer [2]. The preparation and properties of HNCO and some of its derivatives have been described in the literature [3, 4]. The polymerization of HNCO leads to a mixture of cyanuric acid (trimer of HNCO) and cyamelide [3, 5]. Cyanuric acid is a commercially available substance [3, 6]. However, there has been some doubt regarding the thermal stability of HNCO and possible formation of dimers or other oligomers with the formula (HNCO)n [7]. Isocyanic acid forms very strong hydrogen bonds, therefore the formation of dimers is possible. These dimers should have bands in the same region as the ÿ1 fundamental of monomeric HNCO [8]. Owing to a formal analogy between isomeric cyanic acid:

HPCO—A Phosphorus‐Containing Analogue of Isocyanic Acid

We describe the isolation and spectroscopic characterization of the heavier phosphorus-containing analogue of isocyanic acid (HPCO), and its isotopologue (DPCO). This fundamental small molecule, which has been postulated to exist in interstellar space, has thus far only been observed at low gas phase concentrations or in inert gas matrices. In this report we describe its synthesis, spectroscopi...

Computational study of the intramolecular proton transfer between 6-hydroxypicolinic acid tautomeric forms and intermolecular hydrogen bonding in their dimers

This paper is a density functional theory (DFT) calculation of intramolecular proton transfer (IPT) in 6-hydroxypicolinic acid (6HPA, 6-hydroxypyridine-2-carboxylic acid) tautomeric forms. The transition state for the enol-to-keto transition is reported in the gas phase and in four different solvents. The planar and non-planar dimer forms of 6HPA keto and enol, respectively, were also studied i...

Synthesis and Optical Study of CdZnTe Quantum Dots

The comparison of growth processes and fluorescent properties of CdZnTe semiconductor quantum dots that are synthesized in different concentrations of Zn2+ in water are discussed in this paper. The samples are characterized through absorbtion (UV) and photoluminescence spectra (PL). The results show that when the reaction time is prolonged, the absorption peak and fluorescent emission peak pres...

Infrared spectrum of solid isocyanic acid (HNCO): vibrational assignments and integrated band intensities.

Infrared spectra of thin films of solid HNCO condensed from the gas phase are characterized in terms of their vibrational frequencies, mode assignments, and integrated band intensities at low temperatures ( approximately 20-145 K). Isocyanic acid is shown to react with water (H2O) and ammonia (NH3) even at low temperatures; consequently, it may be an important species in the chemistry of inters...
